Exactly Where You Need To Be.

Creating a Home, Blockchain Protocols 101, Community Wins

Are you exactly where you need to be?

For many years, I wasn’t. Not exactly where I needed to be, not around where I needed to be, not even close to where I needed to be.

But now I am exactly where I need to be. Dead center. Bullseye.

I spent many years in environments that weren’t correct for me – weren’t welcoming, weren’t supportive, weren’t feminine.

So I decided to create an environment a home that worked for me – SheFi.

Ever since opening this home and community to you, SheFi has grown exponentially (hello, 15K on Twitter)!

I created the space that I wanted to be in – fearlessly, focusing on making it perfect for me to thrive in. Now that I've made something perfect for me, I'm bringing it to the world and I'm finding other people are ALSO discovering it's what they need.

“The community is so welcoming, warm, and unapologetically feminine that I knew that I was exactly where I needed to be.”

Angela Reyna, SheFi Member at SheFi Summit Denver

SheFi Summit is the most tangible manifestation of this home, and our fourth one is just 4 days on Sunday, July 7th in Brussels!

SheFi Summit feels like home not only because we have panels full of brilliant, badass women building in Web3. Quests to complete so that we learn together by doing. Colorful custom rings and necklaces with NFC chips inside for new ways to connect. Gorgeous merch. Delicious food. Unparalleled networking opportunities.

But because, we’re providing a space for women in crypto where you feel welcomed, supported and feminine.

A space where you and I feel like it is exactly where we need to be.

SheFi is exactly where I am supposed to be – it’s clear living my message is what I was meant to do. We started with crypto and Web3 education. We’re now making all frontier tech feminine. But ultimately we are manifesting the divine feminine and creating a place where women feel like they’re exactly where they need to be.

My hope? With SheFi, every woman feels like she is exactly where she’s meant meant to be.

SheFi Summit and ETHCC Tips

We’ve done this a few times. But if this is your first SheFi Summit, here are some tips to make the most of it:

  • Have your pitch ready. You might meet someone who changes the trajectory of your career. Practice your elevator speech so they can learn who you are, quickly.

  • Have a QR code prepared that links to your Telegram. Make connecting with you easy for them!

  • Be open-minded. Talk to everyone, and give people the benefit of the doubt. But if a conversation is definitely going awry, remove yourself.

  • Feeling shy? Have a buddy. If networking seems scary, get yourself a wingwoman. A buddy system makes the experience less nerve wracking.

At the end of the day, this opportunity is what you make of it. We’re here to set a safe, energizing container. We’re here to teach you, support you, and cheer you on - but the time and attention you put in is going to make all the difference.

If this is your first ETHCC or first crypto conference, be sure to keep these important things in mind when attending crypto conferences:

  • Stay hydrated. Bring a water bottle with you wherever you go.

  • Wear comfortable shoes. There’s no need to dress in heels for the Summit! The world will feel a lot more approachable without blisters!

  • Stay safe. Parties will be happening–have fun! Keep your wits about you and travel with friends.

Everyone here at SheFi is committed to you having the most engaging, rewarding, and exciting time in Brussels. It’s going to be a life-changing adventure as we all continue to pave our way toward financial freedom.

What is a Blockchain Protocol?

During class I was asked what’s a blockchain protocol? And are there protocols in Web2? What’s the difference between a protocol, platform and application.

Let’s dive in!

What’s a Protocol? A protocol is a set of rules for transmitting data between devices. In Web 2, for example, HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol) is used for transferring web pages, and SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) is used for sending emails.

In blockchain, protocols like Bitcoin and Ethereum set the rules for how transactions are conducted and verified.

Examples of Protocols:

  • DeFi Protocols: Like Uniswap and Aave, they define rules for financial transactions like lending and trading without intermediaries.

  • Social Protocols: Like Lens Protocol, they set standards for decentralized social networks where you control your data.

Blockchain protocols are usually open source, meaning anyone can build applications on top of them.

What’s an Application? In blockchain, an application (or dApp) runs on top of a protocol. For example, OpenSea is a application that runs on the Ethereum protocol, allowing users to buy and sell NFTs.

What About Platforms? A platform, like Facebook, is a controlled environment where applications can be built, but it’s not open source. This means only the company that owns the platform decides what can be developed and who can use it. Unlike protocols, platforms limit who can innovate on them.
