Walking to my long-awaited chiropractor appointment, I stopped in my tracks. "No way – a magazine store?"

After months of mounting hip pain and constant rescheduling, I was finally seeing a chiropractor recommended by my doula. I’ve been having some back issues I wanted to get checked out prior to my upcoming, hopefully unmedicated birth, something I’ve been dutifully preparing for over the last 7 months.

The magazine store felt serendipitous. I'd been planning to create a vision board for 2025 for months but hadn't been able to find a magazine shop. This was absolutely perfect.

And, little did I know, a telling sign of how the rest of the visit would go.

Once in the office, I began filling out the paperwork. To my surprise, it was extremely thorough. Health and wellness questions, distantly or not at all related to back or hip issues, flooded the pages. 

Then I glanced around at the walls. Crystals were everywhere. I was starting to piece things together when the chiropractor greeted me.

“What brings you in?” she asked.

I explained my back problems, my hip pain, and that I was due in April. She nodded and began to set me up for adjustments.

Before she began, she added, “Oh, by the way. During visits, I tap my finger in my palm and channel spiritual guides to support your healing. Are you interested in that?”

My jaw dropped. I was a bit surprised, but excited, at this unexpected perk. “Yes, actually!” After the positive omen of a magazine shop – plus the full moon in Leo on that very day – this seemed like an ideal addition to my appointment. 

First, she asked me to describe my life vision. When I explained wanting to have multiple kids, while keeping a healthy and happy career, she nodded thoughtfully. “The guides are on board with this plan!”

I grinned. I told her about SheFi and about my passion for community. How we all need likeminded peers in our life to join us on our journeys. “The guides really admire how strong your vision is for your life.” I can’t lie – this validation felt good. 

She worked my arms, legs, and back, then got around to my hips. As she adjusted around my very pregnant belly and felt a bit of kicking, she laughed. “Oh, there she is!”

She?

“Do you know the gender?” the chiropractor asked. I shook my head; we were keeping it a surprise. Though I can’t deny that my heart fluttered when this intuitive specialist had felt a baby girl. 

Once she was finished with the physical, I sat up, already feeling an amazing release from pain. She invited me to ask her any more spiritual questions I may have for the guides. 

“Is the baby healthy?” 

She calmly assured me of the baby’s health and to expect a due date that was on target. I sighed with relief: both for Baby Love-Wu’s wellness, and that by then, Season 13 would be completed. 

Whether or not this chiropractor is actually a vessel for the spiritual guides, I still relished in the positive affirmations she gave me. While there will always be unknowns, bringing an optimistic mindset along for the rest of my pregnancy journey is crucial. 

As I left the chiropractor, lighter than air, and went to the magazine store for my vision board, I realized something: this experience was similar to women joining SheFi for the first time.

You expect something practical, helpful: Web3 education. 

But then you receive affirmations, guidance, reinvention, empowerment, a new view on your abilities, and of course, support from the community around you. 

I went into this appointment thinking I was just getting my back adjusted. Then I left feeling more hopeful than I had in a long time. 

When we acknowledge that we are more than just brains seeking results – we are full humans, with dreams, emotions, and fears – we are elevated. The beauty of SheFi is that we do more than just teach the future of technology. We see your entire personhood, and make sure that every part of you is supported on your journey. 

After all, we’re all much more than just a back to be cracked, or faces on a Zoom.
