"Wait, I know Maggie Love. My mom was her music teacher."

At a graduation party in Chicago, my name floated into conversation. A woman overheard — and just like that, two worlds collided.

"Your mom was Mrs. D?" my best friend Mercedes asked, stunned.

Mrs. D. My music teacher. My mentor. The woman who helped shape my path. She passed away in 2009, but her impact still echoes through my life. Now, years later, her grandson and my best friend’s brother had become college roommates.

Total strangers, from completely different parts of the country, deeply connected by fate.

"What a Godwink," my friend texted me.

Moments like that stop you in your tracks. They make you believe there is a bigger picture. They are little reminders that you’re exactly where you need to be.

That everything is going to be okay.

The best part? The more you seek Godwinks out, the more frequently they appear. 

Just a week later, I got another one.

I was preparing for a SheFi dinner. It was an intimate gathering for seasoned women in Web3, a night to discuss transitions in career and in life and how we can support one another through these moments. But I was nine weeks postpartum.

And I had never, not once, been apart from Summer.

She’s my heart outside my body. We do everything together. The thought of leaving her for just a few hours filled me with dread.

What if she won’t take a bottle? What if she cries? What if she needs me?

Everyone reassured me. She’d be fine. I’d be the one in pieces.

So I put on clothes. Simple black dress. Makeup for the first time in forever. I stared in the mirror, tears welling.

I got in the Uber. Then promptly called my mom, crying.

She listened. Reassured me. I was going to be okay. Summer was going to be okay. I was doing the right thing. 

I heard her, but I still had doubts. And then — a Godwink.

As we crossed the Manhattan Bridge, Billy Joel’s "Only the Good Die Young" came on. The song I used to sing with Mercedes, a song that got us through life's ups and downs.

Out of all the songs in the world, that one.

I texted Mercedes immediately, like she had texted me just a week earlier. “I left Summer for the first time tonight, and it’s hard, but in the car Only the Good Die Young played. A Godwink.” 

I walked into the SheFi event and exhaled.

Familiar faces greeted me. Conversations flowed.

I found fellow moms, and we shared our messy truths. I was honest about my mini-meltdown when I gave my opening talk. We talked about showing up for each other — in crypto, in motherhood, in life.

And when I got home? Summer was thriving. Took the bottle. Slept deeply.

So here’s what I’ll leave you with:

Every new chapter feels terrifying. Motherhood. Web3. Career pivots. Building something from scratch. The unknown is always scary.

But trust your gut. Lean on your people. And keep your eyes open for Godwinks.

They’re little signs from the universe reminding you — you’re on the right path.

Season 14 Scholars Announced 🎓️

On June 23, we announced our first batch of official SheFi Season 14 Scholars. And the reception was out of this world! 💫 

Thousands of women took to Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn to celebrate their acceptances.

And even more scholars have been announced since!

An Intimate NYC Dinner with SheFi 🍝 

We hosted a little get-together last week during the Permissionless conference, and it was beautiful.

Instead of hosting a massive SheFi Summit Brooklyn, we invited some SheFi and crypto OGs to connect in an intimate dinner party setting.

The conversations were insightful, authentic, and joyful.

And as she wrote above, Maggie left baby Summer for the first time to participate. It went as wonderfully as we all could have dreamed. 💫

• Robinhood Goes All In on Crypto. American financial services company Robinhood unveiled a suite of new products that mark a major step forward for crypto. They’ll be onchain with Arbitrum, a prior SheFi sponsor.

• SEC Clears Way for First Solana Staking ETF. The SEC had “no further comments” on the Solana staking ETF filing. In ETF regulatory parlance, industry watchers often view that phrase as the SEC’s implicit greenlight.

• Visa and Mastercard React to Stablecoin Growth. Stablecoins like USDC are gaining traction, with companies like Shopify, Coinbase, and Stripe quietly rerouting payments around traditional card networks, leading Visa and Mastercard to adapt.

• Senate Strikes AI Provision from GOP Bill. A proposal to deter states from regulating artificial intelligence for a decade was soundly defeated in the U.S. Senate.

• AI Companies Start Winning the Copyright Fight. Tech companies, including Meta and Anthropic (the maker of Claude), notched several victories in the fight over their use of copyrighted text to create artificial intelligence products.
