It was 2016, and I was in a strategy meeting at IBM.

Some guy wouldn’t shut up about blockchain. Loud. Intense. Too much, honestly.

“Mute that guy,” someone declared.

But I remember thinking: no one at IBM is ever that excited about anything.

So I got curious.

After work, I walked to Barnes & Noble in Union Square and picked up Blockchain Revolution.

I read it in two days. I didn’t fully understand the tech. But the use cases were so compelling, I just knew I had to be part of it.

That spark became an obsession.

I was sneaking into empty cubicles at IBM to read Reddit threads, white papers and blog posts.

There wasn’t much out there, but I consumed everything I could find. I even took on a side project at IBM focused on blockchain for financial markets. It wasn’t part of my day job. I just couldn’t not do it. I loved learning about it. 

Eventually, I discovered ConsenSys in 2017, and interviewed for a role. When the job offer came, I sat down with my roommate to talk it through.

It wasn’t the “safe” move. It wasn’t what people at IBM did.

She reminded me, “You have to take it. You haven’t stopped talking about crypto since you discovered it.”

And she was right.

Crypto had lit something up in me that I couldn’t ignore.

So I followed it. Even when it didn’t make sense. Even when it wasn’t the logical next step. And that curiosity didn’t stop once I joined crypto fulltime. 

In 2019, when DeFi started taking off, I was fascinated with it.

Once again, I couldn’t stop learning. I was following every protocol launch, testing new tools, and asking questions to my peers.

And as I did, I thought:

More women need to understand this.

That curiosity became the fuel behind every SheFi cohort, every lesson, every course I built.

Sure enough, more and more women began to join. They were following their curiosity, too.

It’s what kept me motivated: even when the market crashed, even when it was hard, even when no one was paying attention.

So if you’re asking yourself what to do next — start with what you’re curious about.

That’s where the most exciting opportunities live. That’s where real alignment begins.

It’s how I found crypto.

It’s how I built SheFi.

And it’s how I keep showing up, even now.

• U.S. unveils sharp tariffs on dozens of countries. On August 1, President Trump signed executive orders raising tariffs between 10–50%, hitting India (25%) up to Syria (41%) and alarming markets over inflation and trade disruption.

• ElevenLabs launches new AI music generator cleared for commercial use. The audio‑focused AI company unveiled a music generator it claims is licensed for commercial deployment, a new step in generative audio tools.

• How Delta is using AI for ticket pricing and what it means for air travel. Delta President Glen Hauenstein told investors the goal to increase AI usage from 3% of its network to "about 20% by the end of the year."
