You can feel it in the air.

It was the first time I had to pull on a light sweater while taking Summer Jeanne out for our morning walk. We passed dozens of kids with bright new backpacks and clean sneakers, buzzing with back to school energy.

There’s nothing like that feeling. Everything is new: a new teacher to meet, a new impression to make, a new goal to achieve. 

Everyone loves a fresh start. 

This fall, running SheFi feels like college is behind me and I’m heading off to start my MBA. It feels more real, more intentional, more grown up. 

College is when you start exploring the possibilities for your future on your own terms. You’re exposed to many different subjects, you find out what resonates with you, and you start to draft a map to the life that you want to lead. 

When you leave college for the real world, you decide which direction to head in. The real world – through jobs, internships, travel, life events – is its own teacher and helps you figure where you really want to go. The MBA is a compass, a specialized tool that helps you get there. It’s the opportunity to fine-tune, sharpen, and channel your momentum towards your destination. 

I’m not literally heading off to start an MBA, but I am seeking new skills that feel like entering my own MBA program. My husband Jon sat at our kitchen table the other morning while he gave me, my Chief of Staff Ela, and Summer Jeanne (Chief of Joy) a recap from the Alex Hormozi business workshop he attended a week earlier. I took it all in, scribbled notes, and am now reading Hormozi’s book. 

SheFi was born out of divine inspiration and I’ve been following that voice ever since. This year though, I’m finding the information to support that voice to its most divine expression. I’m reading business books instead of scrolling my phone (well, most mornings!) to understand how to build something that lasts.  

As SheFi enters its MBA era, the organization is expanding beyond what I could’ve imagined on my own. Decisions no longer come solely from my intuition, but from my intentional conversations with members of my team, trusted advisors, and community. Know that I am listening and thinking deeply about how to weave all the colorful threads of this vision together.

Based on these conversations, I'm being challenged to think about things differently and inspired to imagine the future possibilities. And that feels very back to school.
