My Scariest Trip Yet.
MORE SheFi Summit Singapore Speakers! DCL Art Week. SheFi Events + Opportunities.
I got the invite to BaseCamp, but I almost didn’t go.
Jon had a work trip scheduled, and the idea of traveling alone with Summer—her first flight ever—felt overwhelming.
Could I really do this solo? Fly with a baby? Show up at a crypto conference as a mom?
Traveling with a baby is scary. Traveling solo with a baby? Even scarier.
I thought about canceling. I pictured potential meltdowns, stares, exhaustion. I wondered if it was fair to her or to me.
But then I realized: if I wait until I feel ready, I may never go places.
So I did it anyway. I did it scared.

And the moment we landed in Vermont, an older woman came up to me and said,
“Amazing baby. Amazing mom.”
A rush of relief ran through me.
Because I had done it. Alone. No headphones. No zoning out. Just 100% locked in: feeding on demand, rocking while we were in the air, singing A Whole New World when she fussed on the tarmac.
(And honestly, she was just the only one brave enough to complain out loud about the delay.)

But I know now: what’s usually scary ends up being empowering.
Not just because of the act itself but because of the quiet, intuitive knowing.
I know my baby.
I know she needs the white noise machine and pacifier in the cab.
I know when to sing. I know when to bounce.
I know her.
That’s what gave me the courage.
I am uniquely equipped to support my baby.
And while I might have traveled solo, during the journey, I wasn’t alone.
From the moms who encouraged me as we waited to get on the plane, to crypto friends like Tony Olendo, who helped me with luggage at the Vermont airport, to the SheFi members who got me coffee and breakfast daily—I was surrounded by support.
Courage got me on the plane. Saying yes to help carried me through the event.
At BaseCamp, the support continued. When Summer got antsy during SheFi interviews, our SheFi members recorded each other while I fed them questions. Statuette gave me her number, just in case I needed someone to hold her. Cait Cavell and her sister Delaney carried my dinner and Summer back to my room on the last night so I could eat before putting us both to bed.

Strangers offered help. Friends gave hugs. People made space.
I felt truly taken care of. Because of this, I could fully engage in the event.
Every day, I got us both ready and we hit the conference. We went to talks, made connections, and when she needed a nap, I politely slipped out. Every night, I put tiny headphones on Summer so she could sleep, strapped her to my chest, and I stayed out until 11pm talking to builders, creators, and other parents.

Moms make it work.
Crypto moms and dads run this industry.
We’re building this frontier. One protocol, one deal, one human at a time.
