Nothing Is You.

I braced for loss. What came was something else.

Summer turns one on Sunday.

Her first word is "ahh-choo." She takes two steps and then sits down, looks at me like she's checking if I saw. She screams like a pterodactyl in restaurants. She loves to be held by her grandparents. She shares her food with anyone who'll take it. I wake up every morning and think, I made the best human in the world, and I know every mother thinks that, and I still think it.

Everyone warns you about the death of the maiden, the version of you that exists before motherhood. The late nights, the freedom, the body you used to live in, the life that was just yours. They tell you to grieve her. I braced for that.

The grief never came. At least not yet.

Maybe it will. Maybe I wake up in two years and want her back. But right now, a year in, I don't feel like I lost something. Life feels rounder. I have to miss things now. I have to make different decisions. My body isn't what it was. My weekends belong to a person who just learned to walk. I'd been told my life would get smaller. It feels like I got more whole, not less.

That doesn't mean it wasn't hard. Going back to work was hard. I cried. Two days a week at three months, and even that felt like too much too soon. The mornings when Summer has separation anxiety and I have to hand her over, screaming, and say goodbye. I'm rethinking things I never thought I'd rethink. There are days I just want an hour that's mine. There are moments that are lonely in a way I wasn't prepared for.

But the surprise of this year is not how hard it is. Everyone tells you that part. The surprise is how much I love the closeness. How physical motherhood is and how much I want it that way. I'm still breastfeeding — day and night, more hours than I could count — not because I should be but because it's this tiny, warm place of bonding that I can't imagine ending. I'm her immune system. Her nutrition. Her comfort at 2 AM when nothing else works. I was designed for this in a way that still amazes me, a year in.

When she's sick, I take the day off. When I make a weird sound and she belly-laughs, I do it again. And again. Until she's gasping. A lot of parenting is mostly just being a good clown. You find what makes your specific person light up and you don't stop.

She's reconnecting me to something I lost a long time ago. My own ability to be completely absorbed by a moment. To think a sound is the funniest thing that's ever happened. Neuroplasticity disguised as peek-a-boo.

I can't believe she's not a newborn anymore. She looks like a toddler. I can see the girl she's becoming and it takes my breath away and also makes me want to slow everything down.

A year ago I cracked myself open and something new walked out. Two things, actually — her, and whoever I am now.

Happy birthday, Summer. Nothing is you.

SheFi Turns 6 Tomorrow 🥳

April is a month where I birth things into existence. Six years ago, SheFi: slides on MakerDAO during lockdown, Love Is Blind on in the background, no idea what I was building. Last year it was Summer. I was eight days late and could barely think about SheFi at all. This year, I woke up and knew in my bones: it's a year to reinvent.

The world is just as unknown today as it was in that tiny apartment. AI is rewriting everything. The future is changing faster than anyone can narrate it. But I feel suited to handle it, and the reason is almost embarrassingly simple: I've been compounding.

Six years of showing up to every class. I've never missed one. Making courses, teaching at institutions, hosting eight summits, experimenting, posting every day, learning by failing, trying again. Meeting women in Buenos Aires, Istanbul, and Singapore who are building things I never could have predicted. Thirty thousand members across a hundred countries, and every single one of them arrived because someone told someone.

Tech changes. Trends expire. Community compounds.

It's how you survive bear markets and why bull markets actually mean something. SheFi has had the chance to work with partners like PayPal, Base, Aave, Consensys, Fidelity Center for Applied Technology, and UTA because the women are real and the community is real. Members are stepping into roles at Invesco and OKX, places no one would have imagined three years ago. Chapter leads are organizing events across Eastern Europe, Southeast Asia, and Latin America without anyone asking them to.

I don't know what's next. Nobody does. But the values I launched SheFi with — that every woman deserves to know her options, that the first step matters more than the perfect plan, that you do it together or you don't do it at all — haven't changed. And the community built around those values is the thing that makes reinvention feel possible instead of terrifying.

To Ela, Naomi, and Syd — thank you for holding this with me this year.

April keeps being the month where I start something. This year, it's whatever comes next.

Crypto + AI Roundup — SheFi Edition 🏇

Crypto Roundup.

  • Goldman Sachs filed for a Bitcoin Premium Income ETF April 14—options-based "covered call" strategy that sells call options on spot BTC to generate income while capping upside. Goldman already holds $1.27B in iShares Bitcoin Trust. This follows Morgan Stanley launching their own spot Bitcoin ETF the week before. Wall Street isn't waiting anymore.

  • The SEC issued guidance that DeFi front-ends, wallet extensions, and apps can operate without broker-dealer registration under specific conditions: no custody of user funds, no investment advice, no order routing, fixed neutral fees, no discretion over transactions. Regulatory clarity for builders.

  • Trump family's World Liberty Financial deposited 5B WLFI tokens as collateral on Dolomite, borrowed $75M in stablecoins. Problem: Dolomite's co-founder is a WLFI adviser. They drained the USD1 pool to 100% utilization, locking out ordinary depositors. Justin Sun (largest outside backer with $44M) publicly broke with the project April 12, alleging "backdoor blacklisting function" and unilateral power to freeze assets. WLFI threatened legal action. Token dropped 20%.

  • CoW Swap got DNS hijacked April 14. Attack targeted the domain registrar, not the smart contracts. No confirmed losses at the contract level. Part of a broader wave of DeFi frontend attacks hitting OpenEden, Curvance, Maple Finance.

AI Roundup.

  • Anthropic officially released Claude Mythos Preview April 7 through "Project Glasswing"—locked down to 12 core partners including Amazon, Apple, Google, JPMorgan, Nvidia, and 40+ additional orgs doing defensive security work. Found thousands of zero-day vulnerabilities in every major OS and browser. Oldest bug found: 27 years old. Anthropic committed $100M in usage credits and $4M to open-source security. Will not make generally available.

  • OpenAI announcements coming "big next few weeks": new model rivaling Mythos, new agent builder, new super-app, new cybersecurity model. Codex hit 3M weekly users—many programmers switching from Opus. Claude Code now runs autonomously 24/7 with "Claude routines" that work while you sleep, review code, build features ready to publish when you wake. New desktop app for parallel workflows. Opus 4.7 dropping this week per The Information. Companies under threat: DataDog, PagerDuty, Code Rabbit, Linear. Software engineers becoming "pilots vs coders."

  • Leopold Aschenbrenner—24-year-old fired from OpenAI—made ~$1B+ on ONE CoreWeave investment in 3 months. Held $1B CRWV position at end of 2025 (18% of his fund). Stock up 25% in <5 days after Anthropic and Meta signed major deals. 9/10 top AI labs now have mega deals with CoreWeave. Used to be a crypto mining company. Stock up 140% in 1 year.

SheFi Takeaway: Wall Street is building the infrastructure while DC writes the rulebook. The companies that own the compute are printing money. The 24-year-old who got fired made a billion betting on it. The gap between knowing what's happening and positioning for it is closing faster than you think.
