Taking Care of Yourself, SheFi Summit Agenda, Global Events

My week was jam-packed.

Doctor’s appointments, meeting after meeting, continued prep for SheFi Summit - so many responsibilities occupied my days that when a calendar notification popped up for an Artistic Alchemy workshop, I sighed. I didn’t have the time.

As the evening event approached, I felt drained from the week. Rather than taking time to care for my spiritual hygiene, I had been opting for an extra hour or two of work at the computer. There were always more things to get done.

But then I remembered how SheFi wasn’t born while staring at a laptop. SheFi was born on a run.

Rarely has my most fulfilling, creative work happen at screens. So despite my infinite checklist, I decided: I do have the time. I grabbed my notebook and headed to SoHo.

And I’m so grateful I did.

Artistic Alchemy gathered women and non-binary folks together to speak our intentions, manifest our dreams, and prepare for the season ahead. Our guide that evening was Ella Fitch, who shared four key steps to get in touch with the universe’s inner workings based on The Artist’s Way:

  • Step 1: (Is Always) Gratitude. Dreaming for more starts with gratitude for what you have now. Keep a journal or note on your phone to write down what you are grateful for.

    • I have a gratitude box in my apartment. I fill it with one item a day and review the year of gratitude on my birthdays.

  • Step 2: Output <> Input. Send your dreams out into the universe through journaling (output), and plan creative activities with yourself, for yourself (input).

    • I am an avid Morning Pages writer, where you get your subconscious out on the page. I do it 3 - 5 times a week.

  • Step 3: Identify the What, Trust the Universe to Take Care of the How. Take the leap of faith.

    • You’re not scared of failure. You’re scare of success.

  • Step 4: Live Alert in a State of Abundance. The pie is more than big enough for all of us. Give generously, and we all advance together.

Some women gathered at the workshop

As I sat there, Ella reminded me of how essential these practices have been in my life. But recently I was doing them more on autopilot and not as intentionally as I have in the past.

This class woke me up! I felt inspired, energized and enthusiastic to bring more intentionality to my everyday practices.

I also realized sometimes you need to be among others and hear concrete examples from an instructor to get back into your spiritual groove. Using her direction in combination with the support of my peers, I reestablished my commitment to these powerful tools.

While I headed home that night, I couldn’t help but think about how SheFi provides a similar opportunity.

Of course we can learn about gratitude on our own, just like we could learn Web3 on our own. But having a dedicated teacher walk you through something alongside others on a similar journey - there’s something uniquely beautiful to that. You feel less alone. You feel aligned.

Because yes, days overflow with duties. I have been so caught up in weddings, a honeymoon, cohorts, summits, and the day-to-day that I almost forgot to step back and trust that everything is going according to plan.

We often believe that one extra hour at our computers will make all the difference. But in reality, spending time in community, allowing ourselves to be in creative flow, and taking a break from it all really creates the long-lasting impact.

Right now, let me be the one to remind you: carve out that time for yourself. You don’t just deserve it - you need it.
