We Are The Rebels.
Shifting Perspectives, Arbitrum Sponsors Season 11, SheFi Summit

Recently, Jon and I went to his Yale 15 year reunion, and to my surprise, we were met with a lot of crypto cynics.
Most of the skeptics were lawyers and private equity bankers, but the most vocal critics were the government employees, or “feds.” One even said, “I’ll finally be happy when I never have to hear the word crypto again!”
Despite facing some fiercely opinionated government litigators — aka professional debaters — as my opponents, I didn’t shy away from engaging in the establishment vs. anti-establishment discussion. We were coming from opposite lives, and I was curious to hear their perspectives.
Many of these folks have followed linear, predictable career paths, deeply rooted in the establishment. And there's nothing wrong with that! But they have a totally different mindset than someone who found themselves in entrepreneurship, startups, and crypto like Jon and me.
Moreover, their knowledge of crypto largely stems from negative news headlines: the Terra Luna crash, the FTX scandal, Trump’s support, scam coins — all that jazz.
Obviously, my circle has another take entirely. We see crypto as a way to finally ensure our own financial security and freedom. It’s an opportunity to build new systems that empower individuals and decentralize power, offering more control over our economic futures.
While both sides at the reunion had incredibly intelligent people, I don't think a single person walked out of there with their opinions changed. It’s unfortunate, but Rome wasn’t built in a day. And long-held crypto biases can’t be changed in a Yalie conversation over cocktails.
Still, it makes me wonder: if these incredibly smart, driven, and well-educated individuals dug deeper into crypto, how might their perspectives shift? The assumptions we hold shape our worldview – and consequently, how we interpret the digital economy.
Giving women the opportunity to shift their perspectives and take advantage of crypto opportunities is what I love doing at SheFi.
