Who else is still basking in the SheFi Summit glow?

The SheFi team and I ended our week in Buenos Aires at rAave.

Partying at a rave is completely different than at a club. It's not just about music that blasts till 6 am, mesmerizing lights, or fun outfits – though those help – it's about the way a dance floor becomes a community.

You're dancing with your crew, then one of you has to go to the bathroom so you all go because you don't want to lose anyone. On the way, you run into someone you know and now you’re introducing new friends. Back on the floor, someone nearby busts a fun move and your whole crew starts copying it. All of you are lost in the moment. Entering an altered state simply from moving together.

Silly. Ecstatic. Free.

The best raves are the ones where everyone looks out for each other. You notice when someone needs water, is getting overwhelmed, is dancing alone and could use an invitation in.

What makes a memorable rave is the same thing that makes a good community: the people who show up and how they show up for each other.

Bodies moved in waves of sunset orange and red—the theme for the night–and I saw women who'd met each other at the summit on Sunday reconnect under the glow of the matching lights.

Hosting SheFi Summit before Devconnect made the conference feel less overwhelming. It meant that women who attended the summit now had someone to grab lunch with, to walk the expo floor with, or to vibe with on the dance floor.

Finding commonality builds community, but navigating our differences sustains it.

This year, I noticed something exceptional at the summit: women disagreeing with each other. Not the polite kind where everyone nods and moves on, but the kind where panelists pushed back on each other's points, respectfully yet with conviction.

That's how our community can really grow. Not everyone thinking the same thing, but everyone feeling safe enough to say what they actually think.

What makes a community special is every individual voice. And I want to hear yours.

Something I've been reflecting on this year is how you can play a greater role in shaping SheFi to truly be your community.

What role might you like to play at SheFi, even if it doesn't exist yet? What kinds of activities might you want to organize or host?

Maybe you want to lead a technical workshop on something you're learning. Maybe you want to start a book club or a monthly discussion group. Maybe you're the person who's great at making introductions, or you have ideas for partnerships we should explore, or maybe you know how to organize an epic coffee rave event for us next year.

At SheFi Summit we heard about our incredible global ambassadors who organized their very own SheFi Summits in Europe and Africa. Not because they had the experience, but because they decided to step forward and create something.

That someone can be you.
