“There are no women in crypto.”

Yet on February 26th, at 4:45 pm, Sophie Kornick, Global Events at Monad, walked onstage. 

A member of Season 7, Sophie was speaking on the SheFi Success Stories panel with four other outstanding SheFi alumni. It was the final talk of the day during our Denver SheFi Summit attended by almost 500 people. 

Her first ever time being on a SheFi Summit panel, Sophie had a special guest cheering her on in the audience:

Her mom.

But Sophie’s mom didn’t just come to support her daughter. She is a proud member of SheFi Season 13 herself. And in a sea of many other talented women, she got to watch her daughter describe her role in the recent launch of Monad’s testnet – and understood every word. 

We heard from Rena Shah, COO at Trust Machines on the Bitcoin Renaissance panel, who in an emotional moment discussed the death of her father and encoding his voicemails on the blockchain – so that her future children can listen to their grandfather’s voice for years to come.

Rena showed something powerful that many women in Web3 understand: crypto isn't just about money. It's about creating ownership, building a better world, and supporting the families and communities that give our work real meaning.

Jill Gunter, Chief Strategy Officer at Espresso and a new mom, gave a deeply technical exploration of Ethereum's composability and why it matters. A crypto industry member for nearly a decade, Jill treated every audience member as an intellectual peer, recognizing that the crowd of women in front of her had no trouble engaging with sophisticated concepts.

One of our attendees, Damaris, after joining the blockchain club at Texas Tech, was disappointed to be the only girl member. After joining SheFi, she was inspired to start Women Accelerating Protocols, a student organization specifically for girls to explore Web3. 

She convinced a group of ten girls to apply for SheFi Season 13 scholarships. They take the class together every Tuesday and Thursday morning.

Damaris and five girls from the club traveled all the way from Texas together for SheFi Summit, claiming the basement of their blockchain club’s rented house from the ten boys they came with. She says that meeting this powerful community was “an unforgettable experience.”

“There are no women in crypto.”

Wrong.

Women have been here since the beginning—building, investing, and shaping the future of crypto alongside men. Their contributions aren’t new; they’re just often overlooked. SheFi Summits showcase the generations of women who have been here all along.

Thank you to the nearly 500 brilliant, innovative women and nonbinary people that flooded SheFi Summit as soon as the doors opened, proving not just their existence, but their excellence, intelligence, and enthusiasm for the industry. Crypto’s past, present, and future is feminine.

So, next time you hear someone say, “there are no women in crypto.”

Ask them if they’re really looking in the right places.

• Binance Research Highlights February Trends: Binance's research team summarized key crypto trends for February 2025, noting market retreats across major chains despite growth in emerging NFT sectors.
