I Wanted To Be Rich!

Last summer I had my friend Yadira read my astrological chart.

Yadira is a crypto friend. And she’s a bruja. For those who don’t know, a bruja is essentially a Latin witch.

She said to me, “Maggie, in this next phase of your life if you don’t do what you intuitively know you’re supposed to do, it’s not going to end well.”

She continued to explain: “You’ll always be successful if you’re following your intuition. Don’t veer from that.”

I wasn’t passionate about my last job at W3BCLOUD. I was doing it for a huge payday, and it turned out I got no payday.

But now that I’m doing SheFi—with no expectation of a payday whatsoever—sponsors are knocking down my door to give SheFi money.

I was forcing it with W3BCLOUD. SheFi feels aligned.

When I reflect on why I’m so aligned with SheFi, I realize it was a divine download. In some ways, it came from God (or the Universe, or Fate, or whatever you want to call it).

I had been meditating on the idea for SheFi for a long time, but it really came to me all at once on a run. I wasn’t doing brand strategy, I wasn’t trying to make something happen, I was in flow and the name and concept came to me, and I accepted it.

SheFi wasn’t the first or last time I received a download.

It’s happened two other times in my life:

The first happened when I was 25 and living in Chicago. I suddenly started waking up in the mornings with a humming feeling inside my body. The humming said, “You’re not supposed to be here.” The humming inside me said, “You need to leave this city.” So I listened. I did everything in my power to get a job that brought me to New York. And moving to New York introduced me to blockchain, entrepreneurship, and my fiancé. Nothing about who you see today would have happened in Chicago.

The other time I had a divine download was the third time I met my fiancé. There was a moment when I just knew he was my person. It wasn’t the nervousness of a crush, it wasn’t wanting to be in a relationship, it was a Deep Knowing.

Every time I’ve followed my intuitions, immense possibilities in my life have opened up. Of course, I’ve made hundreds of other decisions that didn’t work out. But those decisions didn’t come from a place of Deep Knowing. They came from a place of Deep Wanting.

When the principals at W3BCLOUD told me they were going to make me rich, I signed up. I wanted to be rich! I knew it wasn’t my calling, I just thought it was a great opportunity to be a cofounder of a promising business.

You can’t “want” something into working out. I couldn’t “want” my way into being a Broadway star. I couldn’t “want” my way into love. And I couldn’t “want” my way into a product management role at Yext (remember them?).

The only time anything has worked out in my life is when I knew.

You know what you’re supposed to be doing right now. Maybe you’re afraid to do it, but if you search your feelings—you know. The good thing is—you have us in the SheFi community, and we’re here to support you while you Do It Scared.

SheFi Summit Makes History in Denver

We made history at ETHDenver by hosting the largest Web3 conference headlined entirely by women! Over 400 leaders, builders, investors, and community members gathered for the SheFi Summit, presented by Linea, in an atmosphere charged with excitement and unity.

From the moment the doors opened, it was clear that no other room in Web3 looked, felt, or buzzed quite like the one we created together in Denver.

As participants, we shared a common belief in our powerful vision: the frontier is feminine. This belief was the heartbeat of every conversation, sparking electric energy throughout the day.

The diversity of our sessions spanned from "Building the Real Open AI" to exploring "Interoperability," "Creative World Building," and learning "What the Barbie Movie Teaches Us about Public Goods Funding."
