I gasped, staring at the positive pregnancy test. It was July 2024, and I was elated.

In that moment, I wasn’t thinking about SheFi sponsorships, Cohort 13, or how this would impact my life in January. I was simply in awe, knowing my dream of becoming a mom was coming true.

The months that followed were a whirlwind — SheFi Summit Singapore and Bangkok, Cohort 12, morning sickness, doctor’s visits. By mid-November, as I started to get that pregnancy glow, I realized something quite big:

For the past four years, SheFi has run a cohort every spring.

But Baby Love Wu is due in April. And I can’t give birth in the middle of a cohort.

For the first time in SheFi’s (and my) history, I wasn’t on my own timeline.

I went back and forth about what to do. The easiest solution would have been to postpone our usual spring cohort until summer. But with 500+ people already on the waitlist and a favorable crypto climate in 2025, I knew this was a pivotal time to get more women educated and onchain.

As Cohort 12 wrapped up in December, I knew I couldn’t delay the decision any longer. I messaged the team:

“Season 13 will start in February 2025.” 

Just enough time to squeeze it in before Baby Love Wu joined us. But only 4 weeks to find a sponsor. 

It was going to be tough, stressful and likely unrealistic. But I chose to trust.

SheFi is a lifetime membership course that costs $799, but we believe in financial accessibility. That’s why we run a scholarship program, funded by sponsors each cohort. 

How it works: Leading Web3 companies that partner with us to provide hands-on education, drive protocol adoption, and support women entering crypto. This model has allowed thousands of women to join SheFi at no cost.

When January hit, I went all in. For four straight weeks, my days were packed with back-to-back meetings. Almost every company was incredibly interested — aligned with our mission, eager to onboard women to their protocol, and excited about what we have to offer them. The only problem?

Timing.

Most protocols had major roadmap updates launching in spring or summer 2025. They wanted to tie these launches to the SheFi cohort education. So while the enthusiasm was there, the timing wasn’t.

After dozens of conversations and promising leads for the future, I had no Title Sponsor for Season 13. 

Did this keep me up at night? Absolutely. 

Did I keep trusting everything will be okay? Also, absolutely.

Life is unpredictable. You don’t choose when you get pregnant. You don’t choose how pregnancy affects you. You don’t get to control the timeline.

And so, in late January, on Baby Love Wu’s timeline, it was decided:

SheFi would sponsor itself.

With some funding already secured and two smaller partnerships in place, Season 13 would go on.

And despite the uncertainty, I trust that with our hard work and dedication, it will be the best cohort – and year for SheFi – yet.

When I give birth in April, I'll never be operating on my own timeline again. It will be a blessing, and a challenge, to balance the beauties of motherhood with my life as a founder.

But 5 years ago, I trusted myself to create SheFi. And now, I'm trusting myself to create life beside it.

I look forward to meeting Baby Love Wu in April.

And I look forward to meeting Cohort 13 on February 11th.

Crypto is a fast-paced industry, and we here at SheFi want to keep you informed.

Here’s a quick recap of some important things happening in the space:

• U.S. Imposes Tariffs on China, Canada, and Mexico. This caused Bitcoin to plummet back down to 92K and led to a sell-off of riskier assets (such as crypto). China has officially announced retaliation. But the market is slowly rebounding.

• Crypto czar David Sacks says NFTs and memecoins are collectibles. Calling them “like a baseball card or a stamp,” Sacks says they are not securities, which are tradable financial assets like stocks. There are no market regulations that apply to collectibles.

• India Reconsiders Crypto Policy Amid Global Adoption Shifts. In light of changing global attitudes toward cryptocurrency, India is reevaluating its crypto policy to potentially foster innovation while ensuring regulatory compliance within its financial system.

• Senator Hagerty Introduces GENIUS Act to Regulate Stablecoins. The GENIUS (Guiding and Establishing National Innovation in U.S. Stablecoins) Act sets rules for issuing stablecoin payments and requires backing with US currency, Treasury bills, Federal Reserve notes and other assets. Supporters believe that the federal regulation will legitimize stablecoins and lead to broader adoption.
