When I first announced I was pregnant, I found myself at dinner with Jon and some friends, nervously excited about everything I didn’t yet know.

I told them I’d been diving into birth stories, so curious, trying to learn what I could. That’s when our friend Sally—rock climber, fearless leader, and total badass—looked me dead in the eye and said:

“You can’t prepare for birth.”

Oh, really?

Now, I get it. Birth is one of those cosmic experiences you can’t rehearse, predict or simulate. And how to handle it is a personal choice.

But to not be curious about it? Not learn or prepare in any way? I fully disagreed.

Because I believe you can prepare for anything. Not by predicting the outcome. But by deciding how you want to show up throughout the journey. 

And I wanted to show up fully – armed with knowledge. 

Sally’s comment didn’t stop me. It stoked my curiosity even more. 

So I got down to work – like I was learning DeFi all over again. I read 6 books on birth, with hits like Ina May’s Guide to Childbirth and Transformed By Birth. I listened to every kind of birth story I could find. I meditated, stretched, prioritized sleep, and spent hours researching the physiology of birth and the powerful hormones guiding it. I learned about my body. I learned about the power of all women.

I made it my mission to feel strong, aware, and empowered — no matter how unpredictable it all would be.

Because it’s not about controlling birth’s wild ride. It’s about feeling prepared to ride its waves.

Of course, the outcome may be uncertain. I won’t fully know what birth is like until I actually experience it. And like we talked about in the last newsletter – I can feel totally prepared, and still absolutely not ready. 

But it’s just like when you take the leap into learning crypto – you don’t know when you’ll get your first Web3 gig. Or when things will finally “click.”

That doesn’t mean you can’t prepare yourself in the meantime, showing up fully for the journey. 

But how do you prepare for the unpreparable? 

It’s simple. 

You learn. You get curious. You arm yourself with knowledge. You listen to and share stories. You ask questions. You show up.

Whenever you’re learning, you are preparing – for whatever’s coming next. 

And anyone can learn anything. This belief is what SheFi is built on. 

Back in 2019, I started my journey into DeFi with some whitepapers and a mountain of curiosity. I didn’t know if others would want to learn with me. I just knew that empowering myself through education would take me somewhere meaningful.

And it did. It led to SheFi. It led to all of you.

Because these in-between experiences — the learning, the doing, the figuring-it-out —are so much more than a means to an end. Yes, being a founder and being a mother are beautiful destinations. But we often forget every moment it takes to get there: the preparation, the questions, the mistakes, the lessons, the growth.

Tomorrow marks the end of SheFi Season 13.

In the course of 8 weeks, over 2,000 women learned all about blockchain, empowering themselves with a technological education some thought wouldn’t be possible. They’re more prepared than ever to enter the world of Web3 with confidence.

But remember: the learning doesn’t end here.

Learning never ends.

When we keep following our curiosities, absorbing information, and mindfully educating ourselves, our life’s journey becomes just as rewarding as any destination.
